Binalong photographer puts Nepal in the spotlight

The 2014 RS.Williams Medal for supreme photographic exhibit at the Bookham Sheep Show and Fair was won by Mr. Geoff Henderson from Binalong.

Mr. Henderson’s winning shot was a portrait of a Hindu attendant, dressed in traditional robes at a Hindu burial ground in Kathmandu, Nepal.

“The old fellow turned out to be a bit of a hustler as he asked me to pay him to take his photo,” Geoff reflected.

“It wasn’t much money so I paid him but was stunned when he opened his bag to display wads of notes inside it.”

The award was presented by Darryl Dowling and head steward Phil Cox of Yass, at Darryl’s cafe called “Barney’s of Bookham” which is a major sponsor of the Photographic Competition.

“We offered to display all the entries in our cafe for several weeks after the competition in late April. We had some fabulous and positive comments about the photos from our customers,” Darryl said.
