Southeast Ridge (Nepal):
The southeast ridge is the most popular route, and it was first successfully conquered by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay on May 29, 1953. The expedition starts from Nepal’s Everest Base Camp (5,346m/17,598ft). From the base camp, climbers continue toward the Khumbu Icefall (a hazardous glacier in the everest region), to Camp I. Continuing from there, they navigate the Western cwm(glacial valley below Mount Everest and Mount Nuptse) to Camp II.
