Everest Base Camp Trek (classical)-19 Days
Trip Introduction
Nowhere in the world is it more spectacular than in the Everest region. It's where four of the world's six tallest peaks Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu rise above everything else, crowning the towering ridges that straddle the forbidding Himalayans. The Everest Base Camp trek is the grandest walk in the land of the Himalayas. Trekking through the Everest region offers astounding mountain views, an opportunity to take a glimpse into the life of world famous climbers (the Sherpas), a chance to survey around a world heritage site (Sagarmatha National Park) that hosts variety of Himalayan floras and faunas, an opportunity to explore the highest Buddhist monasteries in the world and of course the trip takes us to the Everest Base Camp itself. It's an opportunity to trek where Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay set off on their epic journey in 1953. But best of all we get to see Everest, the greatest accomplishment of earth, while witnessing all its power and grace up close and personal.
During our 19-day Everest Base Camp Trek, we'll begin by exploring the temples, shrines, bazaars and restaurants of Kathmandu. The following day we take a stimulating mountain flight to Hillary Airport at Lukla and trek up through the Sagarmatha National Park, through the colorful landscapes, Gompas and monasteries enclosed by the soaring peaks. Next it's a steep ascent to Namche Bazaar, the capital of Sherpas, where we are greeted by spectacular mountain vistas. We can enjoy the Sherpa village, culture and monasteries during two rest days which also aid in acclimatization as the altitude begins to "rise". While we pass through the pine and fir forests, glacial rivers, stony trails, mountains, and Buddhist monasteries, views of Everest and other mighty mountains get closer every day. We continue to follow the trail to a famous vantage point, Kala Patthar, where a marvelous 360-degree panorama awaits. After achieving our target of Everest Base Camp, we trek back down to Lukla for a return flight to Kathmandu.
The 19-day Everest Base camp itinerary is actually designed for novice trekkers who are in good health with normal physical fitness. Our "Everest Base Camp-14 days" itinerary would be ideal for you if you are young, energetic, physically fit and have a limited amount of time to trek. Best Season
Autumn (mid Sept to mid Dec) and Spring (March to May) are the best seasons for the classic Everest Base Camp Trek. The weather is sunny and warm offering outstanding views but the nights are cold and can fall to freezing in higher elevations. Winter (Dec, Jan, Feb) is also good for EBC trek, only issue is cold (obviously). Trekking in summer/monsoon(June, July) will be affected by rain but summer trek could be a boon for a keen botanist. The trekking routes are crowded during spring and autumn but during monsoon and winter the routes are not packed and you could enjoy rather best of nature.
