Go on a thrilling adventure in the Langtang region with Ganja La Pass trek on the wild Tibetan highlands and meet the Yolmos

Embark on our amazing 14-day Langtang Valley Trek with Ganja la Pass Trekking that takes you to the famous Langtang region and the Ganja La pass(5122m/16,800 ft). Moreover, we also make an interesting excursion to Tserko Ri (5,000m/16,404ft) which offers  tremendous views of the Langtang Himalaya range. The attraction the Langtang region is that it’s so close to Kathmandu and yet it’s as wild as any Tibetan highlands. Langtang region is also famous for its Gosaikunda Lakes. Moreover, the company of green rhododendron and bamboo forests, majestic waterfalls, and snow-capped Himalayas make the trek one of most diverse treks near Kathmandu. The people living the highlands of the Langtang region are certainly the Nepalis, being the descendant of the Tibetan origin, they still look like Tibetans.

We start the adventure with a day’s bus ride from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. The trek begins from Syabrubesi, via the Kanyanjing Gompa crosses the mighty Ganja La pass, and ends at the Melamchi Pul Bazar in the Helambu region. Toward the end of the trip, you will also trek through some beautiful rice terraces and a number of splendid Buddhist monasteries around the delightful villages of Tarke Gyang and Sermathang before heading back to Kathmandu.

Cross the Ganja La Pass; Trek to Keldang

Today is a very crucial day as we will cross the Ganja La Pass. After breakfast, we follow a long ascending trail, and the hike would be a bit challenging. The pass is covered with snow almost throughout the year. We might require fixing ropes at certain places as we make long ascents through boulders and cross small lakes before reaching the summit of Ganja La Pass that is situated on a rocky moraine. From the top, we get to enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Naya Kanga, Ganja La Peak, and several other high mountains. Then, we gradually start descending down to Keldang from the glacier through moraines. After descending for a couple of hours, we will reach a meadow, which is an excellent campsite on the flat valley below the glacier. Overnight camping at Keldang.
