The Annapurna Sunrise Trek, otherwise known as Ghandruk Poon Hill Trek in Nepal, is a relatively easy hike meandering through ethnic villages and rhododendron forests. This invigorating trek showcases some of the best views of Annapurna and the neighboring Himalayas, especially from the vantage point of Poon Hill. The added presence of rice terraces completes the picture making vantage point a photographer’s paradise. The trek begins with sightseeing of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. Then, we take a flight to Pokhara and drive to Hile, the new trailhead. We then trek to Ulleri treading upon the thousands of stairs crossing Bhurungdi Khola and the village of Tikhedhunga. Trekking through the rhododendron forests that bloom with red flowers during the springtime, we ascend to Ghorepani, an interesting place. From here, we head towards Tadapani, but only after a short hike up to Poon Hill early in the morning. We walk further back to Ghandruk and enjoy the ethnic hospitality along with the cultural magnificence of Gurung Museum. In the final phase, we drive back from Ghandruk to Pokhara on a 2-hour drive on a private vehicle.
The 9-day Ghorepani Poon Hill trekking itinerary of the Annapurna region short trek is designed for trekkers who are looking for a less demanding, yet short and beautiful trek, especially with their family and kids in the rural mountainside with up-close Himalayan views. However, if you wish to do a longer trek in the Annapurna region while also reaching its base camp, then Annapurna Sanctuary trek – 14 Days would be the best option. For trekkers who prefer a more demanding trek with the whole Annapurna circuit to cover in about two weeks’ time, Annapurna Circle Trek – 14 Days would be perfect. Again, for trekkers willing to undertake a more demanding trek in and near the Annapurna region, please choose Annapurna Circuit Trek – 17 Days.
