Upper Mustang trek offers a spectacular trekking experience in the remote trans-Himalayan mountain region of Nepal. The 17-day trip begins in Kathmandu with tours of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Then we drive to Pokhara and fly to Jomsom the next day and begin trekking. Upper Mustang is also known as the Last Forbidden Kingdom because it wasn’t until the 1990s that tourists were allowed to enter the region. While trekking in the Upper Mustang region of Nepal, we can admire the uniqueness of tree-less landscape, rocky trails and views of Nilgiri, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and other Himalayas.

During our trek, we can enjoy authentic Nepalese food as well the more common international cuisine (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, etc.). Breakfast and dinner will be served from the teahouse or from a lodge menu where we spend the night whereas lunch will be served on the way to the next destination. All meals will be provided during trekking while only breakfast will be available in Kathmandu and Pokhara. There will also be welcome and farewell dinners for guests.
We will be staying in Yatri Suites & Spa or Similar in Kathmandu, Mt. Kailash Resort in Pokhara and the best available teahouses during the trek. All accommodations are on twin-shared basis. Single supplement will be served on request and will cost an additional USD 470. Please understand that since you will be trekking in remote regions, the services in the teahouses will be basic. We will try our best to arrange rooms with attached washrooms; however, teahouses in some places do not have attached bathrooms.

I know it's audacious to say one particular trekking company is "the best", but there are several reasons why I say this: I had booked a trek with Himalayan Glacier (HG) in the fall of 2017 but had to cancel because of severe health problems. I had already sent in a large deposit, and HG refunded every penny back with no questions! The staff at HG is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They are local and thus have formed excellent relationships with teahouse operators over the years; they have been in existence for 27 years and great experience in the field of trekking. Everyone - from upper level management through to booking agents, guides and porters, are very friendly and would do anything for you! I feel like I have made friends for life with the HG staff. After you look at other trekking operators, come back to HG and book with them. Take it from me - I did two treks with them and only have positive things to say about them!
Show moreThis was an amazing trek run by a great company. The guides and porters were the best. We covered about 75 miles (125 km) in 11 days and crossed passes as high as 13,000 feet (4,000 meters). The tea houses were all comfortabl;e and the food was very good. It was an exciting and fun trek and everything we had hoped for. This part of Nepal should not be missed.
Show moreI recently returned from the 2-week trek in the Upper Mustang Valley and it was a great experience! Some buddies and I went on the Annapurna Sunrise trek two years ago and were really impressed with the friendly professionalism and service, so we elected to go with the company again for Mustang. The value is very good and the service was outstanding. Narayan, the director, is great and the team we had on the trek, led by Rishi, was terrific - very attentive and friendly. I'll be using Himalayan Glacier again when I eventually get back to Nepal.
