‘Upper Mustang Trek and Lo Manthang Helicopter Tour’ begins in Kathmandu with visits to UNESCO World Heritage Sites. We then drive to Pokhara and hop on a plane to Jomsom the next day. The Upper Mustang region includes the northern two-thirds of Mustang District and is more remote than its lower, more accessible parts. We begin our trek from Jomsom in lower Mustang and gradually move towards the Upper Mustang region which is in fact on an ancient trade route between Nepal and Tibet. During our entire Mustang trek we are mesmerized by the region’s landscape which is a unique blend of bleak and magnificent. On our trek, we also cross several passes and admire countless stupas, Buddhist prayer flags, ancient caves, imposing cliffs and the ethnic lifestyle of Upper Mustang’s inhabitants.
We reach Lo Manthang, a walled city of the ancient Lo kingdom, on the tenth day of our trip and explore the uncommon beauty of the town. We take a helicopter from Lo Manthang to Pokhara. This is one of the major attractions of this trip whereby we get amazing aerial views of Mustang’s exceptional landscape. As we get near towards Pokhara, the mighty Himalayas and the serene lakes are ours to admire.
