Visit Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake while touring Ladakh on a segment of the Silk Road and enjoy the little Tibet in India
Ladakh Tour takes you to Leh as well as Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake. Ladakh region is the highest Indian plateau and also one of the least explored Himalaya regions. Because of its proximity with Tibet, Ladakh looks more like Tibet than India which is why the region is also called ‘Little Tibet’. Ladakh also has a historical importance in the region – it has been a part of the famous ancient Silk Road, serving as an important strategic point in the Himalayas since ancient times. Buddhism is believed to have penetrated to Tibet from India via Ladakh Himalayas. Similarly, Nubra valley has served as an important transit point for caravans traveling to Central Asia, China and Tibet.
The Ladakh Tour with Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake starts with your arrival in Delhi, the capital city of India. From Delhi, we fly to Leh, the capital of Ladakh. From Leh, we make a detour to Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake. The tour ends with another flight from Leh to Delhi again, from where you will travel to your onward destination.

The Ladakh Tour with Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake costs US $2,499 per person on a twin-sharing basis, which works out to roughly US $312 per day across the 8-day itinerary. The price includes flights, hotels, permits, and ground transport.
A single supplement of US $385 applies for travelers who prefer a private room instead of sharing.
This tour is graded Demanding, reflecting the high-altitude driving over passes above 17,000ft and two nights of camping at Pangong Lake and Nubra Valley rather than any strenuous hiking. Comfort with high altitude and long travel days matters more than fitness.
The itinerary front-loads a full rest day in Leh specifically to prepare the body for the higher stops that follow.
May through September is the best season for this tour, when Khardung La and Chang La passes are snow-free and reliably open. This window also aligns with warmer daytime temperatures at Pangong Lake and Nubra Valley.
July and August tend to be the busiest months, so early booking is recommended for camp accommodation. Read our full guide on Best Time to Visit Ladakh.
This tour runs 8 days total, flying from Delhi to Leh and back, with stops in Lamayuru, Uletokpo, Pangong Lake, and Nubra Valley built around Leh as the base. It is one of Himalayan Glacier’s shorter Ladakh itineraries.
The compact schedule suits travelers with limited vacation time who still want to see Ladakh’s signature landscapes.
Yes, this tour suits beginners and families in good health, since it is a guided vehicle-based itinerary rather than a trek, though its Demanding grade means travelers should be comfortable with altitude and two nights of camping.
Families traveling with children should discuss acclimatization needs with Himalayan Glacier before booking.
The highest point is Khardung La Pass at 5,578m (18,301ft), reached while driving from Leh to Nubra Valley on Day 6. Pangong Lake, visited earlier in the trip, sits at 4,420m (14,502ft).
Both altitudes are well above where altitude sickness symptoms can appear, so gradual acclimatization is built into the route.
Yes, inner-line permits are mandatory for both Pangong Lake and Nubra Valley since they sit in restricted border areas, and Himalayan Glacier arranges these permits as part of the booking process at no extra effort to the traveler.
Permit processing typically requires passport details submitted a few days ahead of arrival in Leh.
Accommodation is in 4-star hotels such as Hotel Shambhala in Leh, with deluxe full-board camping at Uletokpo, Pangong Lake, and Nubra Valley. Rooms and tents are shared on a twin basis unless a single supplement is booked.
Camping in Ladakh is more comfortable than backcountry camping, with proper beds, dining tents, and hot meals provided.
Daily breakfast is included at hotels, while full board (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) is provided during the three camping nights at Uletokpo, Pangong Lake, and Nubra Valley. Other meals in Leh are at the traveler’s own expense.
Camp meals are freshly prepared by the trip crew and typically include a mix of Indian and continental dishes.
The signature highlight is crossing Khardung La, one of the world’s highest motorable passes, followed by the color-shifting waters of Pangong Lake and the Bactrian camel safari on Hunder’s sand dunes in Nubra Valley.
The ancient Lamayuru monastery and its striking moonscape terrain are also a notable stop on Day 2.
This 8-day tour covers the same core highlights of Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake as the 12-day Classic Ladakh Tour but skips Tso Moriri and uses 4-star rather than 5-star accommodation, making it a shorter, more budget-friendly option.
Travelers wanting to also see Tso Moriri Lake and Delhi sightseeing should consider the longer Classic Ladakh Tour instead.
Yes, once booked, this Ladakh tour departs as scheduled regardless of final group size, so travelers do not risk a last-minute cancellation due to low enrollment.
Custom dates outside the published schedule can also be arranged directly with Himalayan Glacier’s travel team.
After creating an account, you'll be able to track your payment status, track the confirmation and you can also rate the tour after you finished the tour.
