Hotels offer varied options for New Year’s Eve parties

Five-star hotels in Kathmandu have been busy preparing special dinners and celebrations to help city dwellers welcome the New Year in style. Buffet dinners accompanied by live performances by popular singers and dancers along with DJs are some of the offerings that the city’s swanky hotels have lined up for party lovers.

Most of the five-star hotels said they had received substantial bookings and that sales of tickets for the celebration had been massive. They have also launched various schemes and door prizes with the tickets to make things more exciting for New Year revellers.

The Everest Hotel offers a gala dinner and unlimited drinks with musical performances by singer Sabin Rai and dance performances by Monica Dahal and various DJ sessions. According to the hotel, the charge for the package is Rs 7,500 per person and Rs 14,000 for a couple. The hotel has also offered various door prizes to customers.

Dipesh KC, director of food and beverage at the Everest Hotel said, “To add extra fun at the party, we have launched door prizes such as trip to Dubai, tickets to mountain flights and gift vouchers for restaurants in India, among other prizes.”

He added that the trend of staying in hotels after the eve party was growing and that they had received many bookings for rooms too. “Many foreign tourists and Nepali nationals too have booked almost all the rooms at the hotel for Dec 31,” said KC.

Hotel Annapurna’s New Year’s Eve party is named Infinity Night and features unlimited food and drinks with live performances by singer Nima Rumba and Kshitiza Shakya accompanied by a band along with Bollywood dances. The package costs Rs 8,000 per person and Rs 13,500 per couple.

Subarna Chhetri, media consultant at the hotel, said that people wanting to stay at the hotel overnight will have to pay Rs 10,000 per couple.

Similarly, a buffet dinner like Mughal and Indian favourites, Thai, Vietnamese and Malaysian is priced at Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000 per person. The hotel offers a 10 percent discount on beverages.

Another five-star property the Hotel Yak & Yeti offers three packages to cater to various clients. For corporate executives and businessmen, it offers Acoustic Vibes Gala Dinner which features buffet dinner including welcome drink and is priced at Rs 3,500 per person. The hotel offers another package for Rs 4,500 per person which incorporates candle light dinner including a glass of wine with background music.

Targeting large crowds of people, the hotel is hosting Sinners in Heaven inferno party with the ticket price at Rs 2,500 per person. Under this scheme, a buffet dinner with free flow of drinks such as beer, wine and energy drinks will be available.

Anmol Shakya, assistant sales and marketing manager at the hotel, said the Sinners in Heaven party has been pulling large crowds over the years as it was affordable for students and middle class people.

“We are expecting more than 1,000 people to attend this party,” said Shakya.

The Hotel Radisson offers an all-inclusive package priced at Rs 5,555 per person which includes its New Year’s Eve party named Euphoria R-XIV with live performance by DJ Shishir, food and unlimited drinks.

Elina Rajbhandari, sales executive of the banquet section at the hotel, said they had already started selling tickets and bookings for the celebration had been overwhelming. She added, “As ticket sales and bookings have been good, we are expecting 300 guests to attend the party.”
