Lemosho route for ascending Mount Kilimanjaro is the newest and so far known for fewer crowds, which makes this route to have a high summit success rate. In general, Lemosho route itineraries to reach Africa’s roof include an 8-day trip, a 9-day trip, and a 10-day trip with slight variations. And the Lemosho route is filled with picturesque landscape, pristine wilderness, and a unique and remote Tanzania’s lifestyle. Nevertheless, Tanzania has got three safari at Tarangire, Ngorongoro & Serengeti. However, the Northern circuit with the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater are most popular for its antic safaris in the Tanzanian region. In fact, around these regions, Safari can be done as many days as you wish. We will pick the popular ones, but we can Taylor Safari to suit clients’ taste. Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro’s International Airport, a representative of the Himalayan Glaciers will be at your service to escort you to Moshi hotel. Later, in the evening, there will be a pre-trip discussion with our manager. You may ask your trip guide as many questions and get a clear vision about your trip. After the discussion, there will be a welcome dinner hosted by Himalayan Glacier. For dinner, we will try excellent Tanzanian cuisine which will introduce us to the country’s food culture.
In the morning, your guide will arrive at the hotel along with a support crew who will meet you and have another short briefing. After breakfast at your hotel, you will drive off to Londorossi Gate (2200m), the western entrance of Kilimanjaro National Park. After acquiring climbing permits and registering with the search and rescue service, you will continue towards the drop off points by off-road vehicles. The drop off point (Lemosho Glades) at an altitude of 3500 meters is the point where you will be able to see the magnificent views of the Shira Plateau for the first time. From the drop off point, you will begin trekking with a moderate gain in altitude towards the high-altitude camp Shira 2. The walk is not too physically challenging but you will be able to begin getting acclimatized. By the time you reach the camp, your crew will already have the tents set up and they will cook dinner for you.
Since it is your first day at this altitude, we strongly advise you to pay attention to the following instruction:
Hiking distance: 11 km
You will start trekking from Shira 2 Camp after breakfast and head towards the key point of the route, the Lava Tower (4630m). Since this section of the trail comprises lots of ups and downs, it might not be easy and you may feel some discomfort. In order to get acclimatized to the altitude, it is necessary to spend a couple of hours here, so we will stop here for lunch. After lunch, it is time for descending down to Barranco Camp (3960m). At the camp, you will see the famous Barranco Wall which is notable for its colossal size and steep gradient.
Note: If you fall sick due to high elevation, you may avoid passing through the Lava Tower and instead follow the route used by the porters that lie at a lower elevation.
Today, you will climb the Barranco Wall. Hiking up the wall is not so hard and takes around one hour to the summit. In order to avoid crowds of other groups, it is advised to make an early start from the camp after breakfast. On reaching the top of the wall, you will rest for a while and take photographs in front of the Kibo volcano. It is then time to take up a more difficult hike towards the Karanga Camp. After walking with an optimal pace on the frequent ascents and descents on the route, you will reach the camp and have your lunch. A couple of hours after lunch, you will hike further higher to get acclimatized and then walk back down to the camp.
Note: It is advised to take the acclimatization hikes seriously as they help you avoid getting altitude sickness and ultimately increase the chances of successfully summiting Kilimanjaro. It is an easy trek with a slight gain in altitude that we recommend trekkers to do so as to speed up the acclimatization process.
Today, you will begin towards the Barafu Summit Camp (4640m) after breakfast. The camp is the starting point for summiting the Uhuru Peak (5895m). On reaching the camp, you will have your lunch and rest for a few hours. Then you will head out for another acclimatization hike towards the intermediate Kosovo Summit Camp (4800m). Coming back to the camp, you will eat your dinner and spend the remaining of your time resting and sleeping. You will begin summiting at night time.
You will wake up just before midnight. After having some tea and biscuits, you will begin the climb to the top of the Uhuru Peak. Relatively, it is an easy climb with only the high altitude as a challenging factor. Your trekking guide will monitor your physical and mental conditions throughout the entire journey. In about 6 hours, you will reach Stella Point (5685m) located on the crater rim and make a brief stop with magnificent sunrise views. From this point onwards, you may encounter snow all the way in the 1-hour ascent to the last point of the climb – Uhuru Peak, the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro. After spending some time drinking tea and taking photographs on the summit, you may descend to the nearest glacier is you wish. Then you will return back to Barafu Camp which will take around 3 hours. Here at the camp, you will rest and enjoy your hot lunch in the sun and after resting for a while, you will descend further to the Millennium Camp (3820m) to spend the night.
Waking up in the morning in the camp situated in a tropical forest, you will be relieved with the normal elevation and the satisfaction of making it to the top. Following a well-deserved breakfast, you will have a big celebration with your staff; present your tips to the guides and other crew members. Then you will descend down for three hours and head towards the Park’s exit Mweka Gate (1640m). Hikers will be congratulated and given a chance to share their opinions on the climb in the guestbook. In the end, you will be presented with commemorative certificates in our office and transferred back to your hotel room.
Start safari from Moshi early straight to Tarangire National Park to enjoy a full day game drive. Here you see many animals, but it’s special for big herds of Elephants and baw baw trees. Lunch will be in the Park and later drive for dinner and overnight in your accommodation.
Start drive in the morning from your accommodation straight to Serengeti via Ngorongoro crater. Have a game drive and overnight and dinner in Serengeti.
Start game drive early in the morning because you can spot animals on the roads as they are scared of wet grasses. You wake up early – you see more…You will come back for brunch and later drive to Ngorongoro overnight.
Go down into the Ngorongoro crater for a game drive in the morning. In Serengeti and Tarangire, you cannot see the rhino. Here you have the chance to see all the Big 5. While you are having lunch, the safari crew will pack everything ready to go back to Moshi. There will be a farewell dinner in the evening to celebrate the successful completion of our journey.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your international departure back home well ahead of your scheduled time. The hotel check-out time is 11.00 am but if you have an evening flight and wish to check out from the hotel at a later time, there is an option to extend your hotel stay for an extra charge.

Our camping crew will carry all the logistics that we need on the mountain for sleeping. Usually, we have a tent sharing basis for two people which is comfortable and enough space to keep your stuff inside the tent. If you want a single tent, it is possible for you to get, but will be charged a single supplement for USD 499 that includes two nights in Moshi hotel. Luxury Safari is a great ending after Kilimanjaro Climb. There are multi-day safari options too, which offers you an amazing experience of the luxury camps, villas, and resorts. The lodges are located in perfect locations offering wildlife viewing, luxurious accommodations, delicious foods, and authentic cultural interactions.

Although the world had closed down due to the pandemic, I had an opportunity to visit Tanzania along with my wife. This was arranged by Himalayan Glacier with all the safety protocols. Bruno Mkerenga was a fantastic guide for us providing us all the information that we needed on the climb. Rashid also did a great job during our safari tour and we had an amazing moment watching the Big Five. Thanks to the company and all the people involved for organizing such a fabulous trip for us amidst the COVID pandemic...Show more
Himalayan Glacier who organized my Kilimanjaro climbing and luxury safari trip has my highest recommendations in all aspects. I did a solo 6-day hike combined with 4-day safari and had the best time ever. As the pandemic was ongoing, there wasn’t much rush and I was looked after very prudently. My hiking guide Cyril and safari guide Anthony were the best in whatever they did. Overall, I had an amazing trip to Tanzania and would love to come back for yet another adventure holiday. Thank you to the whole team and I hope to see you again!Show more
Due to the COVID, I was the only client to go on this Kili summit followed by an amazing safari in the Serengeti, Tarangire and Ngorongoro. Being a female solo climber, I was bit hesitant to continue with 6 men who I never knew, but in fact there was nothing to worry about. Himalayan Glacier and team have wonderful people who look after you and take care for every bit of you. Frumence and his crew on the climb were super fantastic while Frank during the safari trip just knew exactly what to do and let his client enjoy life at the fullest. I am amazed at how good they are at their responsibilities. Thanks Sagar, Erick and team for the most amazing trip of my lifetime!Show more
