Himlung Himal, one of the recently opened peaks for climbing in Nepal, is a gradually less technical climb in terms of peak climbing in Nepal. The Himlung expedition is a classic 7000m expedition in Nepal where you will drive up to Koto, then hike up to Mt. Himlung base camp before going out for the actual climb. This 7-thousander is located in the Manaslu region northeast of the Annapurna region, in one of the remote corners of Nepal and Tibet border. Considering the remote locations, the Himlung Himal difficulty can reasonably be deemed as ‘moderate’ or ‘undemanding’. The location of this mountain is in between the Manaslu and Annapurna ranges.
Mt. Himlung climbing itinerary includes two hidden and mysterious valleys: Nar and Phu. These areas were opened for tourists only recently. These valleys are culturally and naturally safeguarded, and thus considered remote areas. Special permits are required by the climbers for doing the Himlung expedition. The best time to climb Mt. Himlung is during the spring and fall, but preferably during spring.
With an altitude of 7,126m (23,379ft.), Mt. Himlung is one of the 7-thousanders in Nepal. The expedition offers mysterious culture and panoramic mountain views of Nandadevi, Rajramba, Api Himal, Kappa Chuli Peak, and many more. Climbing Mt. Himlung is an excellent opportunity for adventure-pursuers to explore the rich, natural and cultural diversity of the initial trekking region.
Climbing Mt. Himlung involves some demanding technical climbing sections. However, with the right team leading you and of course, a sound fitness level and mental determination, it is doable. This beautiful expedition is not the easiest one and unlike other trekking peaks of Nepal, Himlung has a height of 7,000m+ (22,966ft.+). Having said that, it takes a lot of fitness, preparation, and a bit of experience as well.
