Trek up to Mt. Manaslu, cross the Larkya La pass and admire the rich biodiversity of the region

Around Manaslu trek begins by sightseeing of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu to trekking in the beautiful Manaslu region. While on the trip we get to marvel at the magnificent views of Mt. Manaslu (8163m), the eight tallest mountain in the world, coupled with a chance to witness the rich local heritage and biological diversity of the region. The highest point in this trek is the ‘Larkya La Pass’ which is widely believed to be one of the most dramatic pass crossing the Himalayas. Like all Himalayan Glacier’s itineraries this trek also ensures adequate time for proper acclimatization. Much of the trek involves walking on mountain trails, and is within the capabilities of people with good cardiovascular fitness. Still, it is important to note that trekking at altitudes above 3000m/10,000ft is more demanding on the body than walking at low elevations.

With its remoteness and secluded solidarity, it is believed to be in stark contrast to trekking in the Annapurna region making ‘Around Manaslu Trek’ a first choice for those who prefer to become one with nature.

overlay
  • Enjoy the sublime views of the Himalayan peaks
  • Experience the blend of Nepalese and Tibetan cultures in the local villages
  • Hike up to Larkya La Pass, the highest point of the Manaslu trek
  • Discover the diversified unspoiled ecosystems throughout the trekking trail

Mount kilimanjaro I just completed the Mount kilimanjaro climb organized by Himalayan Glacier. I was supported by a fantastic guide Fromance. He ensured my safety and took me on several additional walks at the various huts where we stayed. We had fun and very interesting adventures. The rest of the team included a fantastic chef, Yona, who created spectacular dishes including a celebratory cake for us after finishing the climb. I would highly recommend anyone considering this climb to go with Himalayan Glacier

The trip of a lifetime! This was such an incredible experience! It is so difficult to describe just how majestic and breathtaking the Himalayas really are. Every single day of the trek I found myself humbled by the scale and beauty of the mountains. Himalayan Glacier absolutely outdid themselves in terms of providing us with a trek that was organised, safe, fun, and most importantly, successful in making it up to Everest Base Camp! Our guide Homnath was friendly and knowledgeable, and our porter Bhakta was such a gentle and kind man. They both helped make our trip so easy and special. I'm so so pleased that I booked this trek through this company. I think it's really important to support the local community by using a guide and Himalayan Glacier provides a comprehensive end-to-end package that gave me total peace of mind through the entire trip (from landing in Kathmandu to leaving to go back to London).

3 Passes Trek with EBC Had an amazing time trekking with Himalayan Glacier and especially my guide Ashish. The service was excellent and far exceeded expectations. Really, it was more than I could have ever imagined from start to finish. Everyone I met with and talked to at Himalayan Glacier were so kind and friendly and answered all my questions and provided great feedback about other parts of Nepal also. If you're thinking about trekking in Nepal I would highly recommend using Himalayan Glacier

Khopra Ridge - fabulous trek! Trekking to Khopra Ridge was an amazing experience! It is a little off the beaten path, which we appreciated. Not crowded at all. We felt like we had the mountains to ourselves. The trek was hard, make no mistake. But we expected that, and were delighted to challenge ourselves...and make it! We had the very best guide in all of Nepal: Pradip. He was young (30) but very experienced. He started over a decade ago with Himalayan Glacier as a porter, and is an accomplished, professional guide. He spoke excellent English and his knowledge of the terrain, culture, mountains, flowers, trees...was exhaustive. We also had the very best porter in all Nepal: Arjun. Retired from the Nepal Army, he had travelled many of places as a UN peacekeeper. He had an infectious smile and was such a great encouragement. Slow, slow, you can do it! We chose Himalayan Glacier very deliberately. We wanted a Nepalese owned company. Everyone at HG was super. They arranged every detail and everything went smoothly, from airport pick up to departure. We would both recommend Himalayan Glacier. If you want a great Nepal experience, with a Nepalese company, they are the company for you! Thank you Pradip. Thank you Arjun. Thank you HG. Hope to return and see you all again. Grace and Abbey

An awesome experience The beautiful scenery, people and culture of Nepal and the Himalayas made this trip one of the best that I have done, and I have travelled abroad a number of times. Spending time exploring the mountain villages and being amongst the locals going about their normal business was a delightful experience and the memories are now etched in my mind. The tour company, Himalayan Glacier, made the trip so easy and trouble free. From airport pick to drop off at the end of the trip I did not have to worry about a thing. The flight to Lukla, all accommodation and meals during the treck were arranged for me so I could could simply enjoy the treck in a hassle free environment. I had a large menu to chose from at all places and the food was delicious, especially the Sherpa vegetable soup. I'm planning to go back and do the Everest Base Camp treck next year with Himalayan Glacier. I strongly recommend planning to stay in Kathmandu for a few extra days after the treck in case of inclement weather delaying the flight out of Lukla. I was lucky and caught my scheduled flight but quite a few people were delayed for 1 day and 2 days as safety is paramount.

Wonderful Nepal Adventure We had a group of 5 and wanted to spend 3 weeks exploring Nepal. They designed a route that fit what we wanted to do! Than after reaching EBC, which was our big goal, Suresh our guide was able to change our plans at our request! We had wanted to do Gokyo Valley but decided to slow down and get away from the popular areas. We visited some less traveled trails with amazing views! They took super good care of us all the time.

Excellent Guide and Safe This was my first time being above 5000 metres and multiple day hike for more than 3 days. I am not that fit :p. Our guide, Ganga (Man) Bahadur Tamang ensure that we are all safe. He was joyful and full of encouragement, and really keen to make his client successful in the climbing. We all made it to the base camp and no one get sick. Man ensures all of our food and drinks are clean by entering the kitchen himself. We have the best porter too, Jiban. He assisted carrying my day bag too to help in the Chola Pass and Everest Section when he saw I am struggling. Both Man and Jiban go far and beyond to make us comfortable, enjoy the trip, and safe. Putting our guide Man phone number here, and photo. +977 984 2868506

"Mera Peak and Amphu Lumbcha Pass We did Mera Peak and Amphu Lumbcha pass October 2019 with help of Himalayan Glacier trekking company. From the beginning of planning to the very end of this adventure I couldn't be happier. People from this company are truly doing everything to make sure you are getting what you want and you leave with best possible experience. They are really professional at what they doing. My trip was tailor made according to my time frame and a budget. Communication and planning was like a talking to long time friend. Cant say enough thank you to Rayuna and Ashmii for planning and taking care of logistics in the office. At the trekking itself we had two best possible guides, Sherpa Ongchhu and Sherpa Saila, who were making sure we are safe and have the best possible experience in the mountains. This company is always doing extra step, like surprising me with a birthday cake, which sometimes means a lot, especially when you'e far away from home. Thank You Ashmii for that. And of course big Thank you to the owner of this company Mr. Sagar. He was realy doing for me much more then he should. He makes me feel like I'm part of his family, like a brother. Thank You again. Bottom line this company learn it's reputation and it is highly recommended. I've been working with them several times and I will work with them again on my next adventure.

Everest Base Camp Luxury Lodge Trek Our group of five had an amazing time hiking to EBC! The Luxury Lodge option is definitely worth it as we slept in comfortable beds (sometimes with heating pads) and took hot showers almost daily. The meals provided were tasty, had a wide variety and large quantities. Both accommodations and food exceeded our expectations. We are so thankful to our guide and assistant guide - Shankar and Bhakta as well as 3 porters. They were professional, patient, had great communication and our guides were literally there for us every step of the way. Shankar even brought extra goodies for us like cookies and fresh fruit... and surprised us with cakes for my birthday and a wedding anniversary! We couldn’t have asked for a better crew. I would highly recommend booking with Himalayan Glacier for treks and tours in Nepal. Nepal will forever hold a special place in our hearts as my boyfriend proposed to me at EBC! Thank you HGTA for a memorable experience!

Nepal and Bhutan Tour Thank you to Himalayan Glacier wonderful staff and guides for an amazing experience !!! Everyone was very welcoming and helpful . The tours in Kathmandu were so insightful and I experienced a new culture and people . I learned so much along the journey , but the best is always getting to know our faraway neighbors !! The food was great, all the hotels were very nice . As a shopper who loves collecting regional crafts , Kathmandu was simply an amazing place to gather things to bring home and enjoy. Arriving in Bhutan we were warmly greeted by Norbu and Tenzing who gave us an amazing tour of Bhutan! Before our journey began we got to have dinner with departing guests and we all laughed , ate and enjoyed great conversation!! Paul and Debra. PS get a Nepal Visa beforehand if possible!!

FAQs

The total distance of Around Manaslu Trek is roughly 177km/110mi. and on a 17 to 18-day trek itinerary, you will be walking for 11 to 13 days, which means walking an average distance of 15 to 20km (9 to 12mi.) each day. The first few days on the trail becomes difficult due to the harrowing steep Budi Gandaki Gorge and lots of uphill and downhill walks. Crossing the Larkya La Pass at 5,106m (16,752ft.) is the most challenging parts of this trek with a long day-hike on trails filled with snow and ice. With great variations in terms of altitude, one major difficulty you could face during the trek is altitude sickness and your ability to adjust to the high altitudes. You do not require any special hanging or rope-climbing and mountaineering skills unless you attempt to do it during the winters. However, you need to be in great shape and physically fit even if you are a beginner. We recommend strength and endurance training, as well as cardiovascular fitness training to maintain your fitness level at least for 3 months prior to starting the trek.

This Manaslu trek is best done in pre-monsoon season i.e. from March to May and post-monsoon season i.e. from late September to December. In general, any time during October, November, April and May are considered the best months. Other recommended months for this trek are September, December and March. We do not recommend doing this trek during the rest of the months. Due to heavy snowfall in January and February it becomes very risky to cross the Larkya La Pass. Likewise, heavy rainfall causing flood and landslide can be experienced during June, July and August, so it is better to avoid these months.

Absolutely yes! Under normal circumstances, our booked trips are guaranteed to run. You will still be doing your trek even if other trekkers cancel their trip. This is the reason why Himalayan Glacier is different from other agencies, who usually cancel their whole trip a month or even a week before the trip date. We are a tailor-made company and the number of participants does not stop our operation. If your trip has been canceled by your operator and you are in a last-minute stress, remember to find us to sort out your trip decisions. Please feel free to book your stress-free holidays with us. Unless there is a situation which is out of control such as a political riot, natural disaster, pandemic, epidemic or weather catastrophes, our trips are 100% guaranteed to run.

Himalayan Glacier offers a lifetime deposit policy which allows you the flexibility to transfer your deposit to anyone or any other trip. If you wish to cancel your booked trips, certain cancelation charges apply. Please visit our booking terms and conditions for detailed information.

You will be guided by our experienced trek leaders who have been to the base camp and back multiple times for years. All our guides are locals who communicate very well in English and acquire deep knowledge of the mountain, people, culture, health, hygiene, and most importantly your safety.

The accommodation on the Manaslu Trek comprises clean huts, teahouses, guesthouses, and upgraded hotels at some places. These hotels have room heaters and en-suite toilet and bathroom facilities. Each year, the lodge owners are adding additional facilities and trying to provide more comfort to their clients. When you book a trip with Himalayan Glacier, we will always book the best available lodges and guesthouses on the route throughout the entire trek. Please visit our accommodation page for more details.

Extra attention by my guide Deu

Another amazing trek organized by Himalayan Glacier. Amidst covid I wasn’t sure how the trip to Manaslu would be like and was concerned about safety. Well, they were impeccable with their planning, information update, services and gave extra attention to sanitation throughout the trip. I can't thank enough my guide Deu Ghale for such a wonderful trip!

Manaslu, a rejuvenating experience

Just returned from the trek. The trek and whole experience was rejuvenating. This was most awaited trip for us. As things got cancelled after lockdown was imposed in Nepal. Thanks to Rayuna Shrestha our travel consultant, cancellation and rebooking was super easy without any hassle. She made all the arrangement and transferred to lifetime deposit. We are more than happy with our guide and porter on the trek. Highly recommend Himalayan Glacier for any trip in Nepal

Friendly people that guaranteed my trip on Manaslu

In the last minute, many of the other booked trekkers for Manaslu cancelled their trip due to spike in covid cases in their home country as informed to us by Samten, our travel planner. She updated me right away. I wasn’t sure they would do the trip. Thankfully, my trip wasn’t canceled or postponed and Himalayan Glacier made this trip happen on the scheduled date. Accommodation in Kathmandu was very nice, HG staff were very friendly and took care of me. In trekking trails, my guide Sabin Ghale was helpful, kind and very knowledgeable about the region. Thank you for making it happen!
