Kala Patthar (5,545m / 18,192ft) offers the best panoramic view of Mount Everest’s summit on the entire trek — Everest’s summit is actually hidden from Base Camp itself by the Nuptse ridge.
Located near Gorak Shep, Kala Patthar is climbed on Day 10, typically before dawn for a sunrise experience. From the top, trekkers see Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Changtse, and the full sweep of the Khumbu Glacier in one breathtaking panorama. It is the highest point of the 14-day itinerary and the most photographed moment of the trek.
