The Village Tourism Promotion and Environment Conservation Centre of Rasuwa, today, submitted a study report prepared for ‘Syangen Himal Eco-Tourism Trekking Trail’.
The centre has also urged Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) to support its initiative to develop the trekking trail. During a press meet organised at NTB, representatives from Rasuwa–Nuwakot Tourism Society (RNPS) handed over the study report to NTB and TAAN.
RNPS representatives, during the programme, informed about the need to develop proper infrastructure along the trekking trail to support the development, conservation and promotion of tourism sites in Rasuwa and Nuwakot. They also said that the region could be developed as an adventure tourism product.
According to the study, the trekking trail of Rasuwa that starts from Lahare Pauwa includes a number of tourism sites such as Somdang Valley, Jageshwor Pond, Ganesh Himal and Paldor Peak. The report also states that the trekking trail can be further developed and connected to the Langtang region and the Great Himalayan Trail.
The report has also mentioned about the urgent need for a proper trekking path, construction of a camp site and potter shelter, and drinking water supply. It has also suggested NTB and TAAN to promote homestay programme in such areas and organise awareness programmes among the people regarding sanitation and hygiene.
To develop required infrastructure for Syangen trekking trail, the Rasuwa-Nuwakot Tourism Society has estimated a budget of Rs four million.
