Birdwatching tour in Bhutan

Indulge yourself into birdwatching experience while exploring new and beautiful parts of Bhutan. With a rich Buddhist culture, impressive Himalayan scenery, and one of the most diverse and rich ranges of birdlife on the planet, Bhutan offers tremendous opportunities to explore gifts of nature.

Browse Himalayan Glacier’s tailored made trips to Bhutan and make the dream of birding come true exploring various Dzongs and monasteries along the way. Meet our bird specialist in Bhutan and get microscopic details of birds in Bhutan.

Begin the journey from Paro and have a glimpse of the Paro Dzong and National Museum. Leave Paro and start a drive to the Che Lela Pass in search of the colorful but elusive Himalayan Monal and Satyr Tragopan, both birding highlights of Bhutan.

Drive to the capital Thimphu where you have time for some more cultural sightseeing. Leaving Thimphu, cross the Dochu La Pass before descending into the Punakha Valley. Enjoy regular stops at places that are potentially good spots for particular bird species.

Pass through the beautiful Bumthang valleys and reach some of Bhutan’s very best birding areas. The mixed forests and huge number of different tree species make this region great for a huge variety of species.

Then retrace back to Paro, for a final walk up to the iconic Taktshang (Tiger’s Nest) monastery.

The roads in Bhutan are generally very windy and scenic, and the slow pace means you get a fantastic chance to view your surroundings and indeed birds.
