Bhutan with Paro Festival and Hikes

Festivals have a special place in the hearts of the Bhutanese people to such an extent that the Bhutanese culture itself is closely characterized by its religious celebrations. On this trip you will participate in the most interesting Paro (Tsechu) festival and also will be exploring the renowned landmarks of Bhutan like Dzongs, monasteries spread throughout the nation. This short trip also takes you short hiking to some of the magnificent trekking places of the Bhutan including the most beautiful tiger’s Nest monastery, which stands as the epitome of the wealthy Bhutanese culture.

The Tsechus are Buddhist religious festivals where masked dances depicting the events from the life of Padmasambhava, the eighth century Nyingmapa Buddhist teacher are staged. The dances are performed by trained monks wearing ornate costumes and impressive masks. Similarly Paro Tsechu features four days of cham (ritual religious dance) followed by the pre-dawn unfurling of a giant thangka (painted or embroidered religious scroll) depicting the eight manifestations of Guru Rinpoche. This enables the people to obtain its blessing, as this holy scroll confers liberation by the mere sight of it.

The tour also features sightseeing in Thimpu and Punakha whereby you get to see the famous dzongs, monasteries and other popular landmarks. You are also entitled to a short hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyel Chorten. The chorten is located on a beautiful hillock overlooking the villages and houses elaborate paintings dedicated to an Old sect of Buddhism. So if you wish to venture to an exotic and tranquil Buddhist kingdom and relish in its cultural and natural splendor, our ‘Bhutan Tour with Paro Festival and Hikes’ might just be the tour you have been looking for!
