First, Himalayan Trekking is very organized and before trekking they brought me to the office and introduced everyone and even though I booked entirely online I was happy to trust them. Especially since I was a woman traveling solo I was so happy to feel safe. Secondly, the guide (Rishi) was professional and very experienced and friendly and good at taking care. Even though I may not need something he would see me and focus on what I needed. Also, the green view guest house at Bamboo village had a hot shower and a good cook! It was a convenient atmosphere and I woke up to the bird's singing and beautiful view. If I go back to the Himalayas I would definitely use the company again and recommend to my family and friends.Show more
In 2016, my wife and I did the Everest Base Camp trek and climbed Kala Pattar. Not only were we stunned by the incredible scenery, but fell in love with the Nepalese people. We also heard about a “side route” taking trekkers to Gokyo Lakes and over the Chola Pass. Having been very satisfied with our operator (see separate Trip Advisor report), we again chose Himalayan Glacier for this trip. We planned a 12-day trek as a hybrid from existing routes, Lukla to Namche, to Phortse Tanga, Dole and Gokyo, Gokyo-Ri, across the Ngozumba glacier to Thonga, the Chola Pass to Dzugla, Pangboche, Namche and back to Lukla. Although this trek was not offered as such, Himalayan was prepared to run it, and offered it at large to anyone interested. They also granted our request to provide Rishi, our 2016 guide which we enjoyed so much. And so it was, beautiful weather on departure day, flying the valleys into incredible Lukla, trekking in the generous nature to Namche, catching our first views of Lhotse and Everest during acclimatization above Namche, the trek to Gokyo with Cho Oyu in the background, the incredible colors of Gokyo Lakes, night climbing Gokyo Ri in time to see the sun rise over Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Makalu, crossing Ngozumba in snow showers, climbing through the Chola Pass, superb views of Ama Dablam and Tamserku. There is simply nothing like seeing Lhotse against a clear blue sky when stepping out of the tea house in the early hours. Our Himalayan staff, Rishi and Bakta our porter, fully lived up to our expectations, and did everything needed to support our trek, from Kathmandu airport pick-up and transportation, very good accomodation at the Yatri Hotel, to handling us through Lukla and Sagarmatha park entrance, and tea house reservations. A very smooth and professional operation. And to top it off, the October weather was nothing short of superb, better than in 2016, allowing more peaks to be viewed. A truly awesome venture!Show more
