3rd Delhi International Kite Festival at Dilli Haat from Friday

Delhi Tourism will be organizing its 3rd Delhi International Kite Festival at Golden Jubilee Park from 24-26 Jan, 2014.

The festival will be inaugurated by minister of tourism, law, art & culture & administrative reforms Somnath Bharti on Jan 24, 2014 at 3pm.

Officials said that the three-day extravaganza will create riot of colours in the air which will attract attention and enthusiasm.

Delhiites who have been indulging in this sport for many years will have a visual delight to watch out for.

Professional kite flying experts from across India and World will be taking part in this year’s kite festival.

Famous international kite flyers Barbara Meyer from USA, Bob C from UK, Sami Sayeghs from Beirut, Tinton and Sari from Indonesia, Cho from South Korea and Antonio from France will be demonstrating their skills in this year’s Delhi International Kite Festival who will be seen flying Kites like Hexagon Stars, Sled Kites, Delta kites, Barongi kites and many more. This year’s Delhi International Kite Festival will have 30 expert Kite Flyers from across India from places like Kerala, Chennai, Rajkot, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Mangalore, Trivandrum and Delhi.

Delhi International Kite Festival has a lot in store. Some of the major highlights are Night Kite Flying, where expert kite flyers will fly kites attaching LED Lights and kite trails, which will have more than 100 kites on one string.

A theme stall is also set up where an exhibition on the history of kites will enlighten visitors about this age old art. This stall will also display kites of different sizes from one square inch to 70 square inch, kites made of tissue paper, elastic paper, bamboo, cloth, etc.

Delhiites will get a perfect opportunity to savour lip smacking food as there is a food stall, which will have Street Foods of Delhi and Rajasthani Food.

Cultural Programs every evening will enthral the visitors at Delhi International Kite Festival. There will be Folk Music Performances, Dances by Sahitya Kala Parishad. There will be Magic Shows, Puppet Shows, Biscope, Longman etc. to provide visitors a fun filled time at the Kite Festival.

A special Kite Making Demonstration for Children will be organised where Professional Kite Flyers will showcase their expertise and demonstrate the art of Kite Making. A painting competition for children will also be organised for childrens on 25th Jan, 2014 (Saturday) at 2pm at the venue.
