Trip Introduction

Jiri to Everest base camp trek follows the footfall of legendary mountaineers, Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa to the Base Camp of world's highest mountain. This is the same classic trail used by these first mountaineers on their successful Everest Expedition in 1953.  This subsequent mountain trail was used by every subsequent mountaineering expedition and trek leaders until flights to Lukla offered short cut. Nowadays although due to time restriction many trekkers opt to take a flight to Lukla and start the trek from there, the Everest base camp trek starting from Jiri is equally popular and regularly used by trekkers as it has its own value. The great mountain country, beautiful villages, rivers and streams, less crowded trail and most importantly the opportunity of more gradual acclimatization the route offers attracts any trekkers to this trekking itinerary. Besides the importance the Everest trek has, this route provides a chance to visit more Buddhist monasteries, more of the gorgeous Sherpa and other ethnic villages representing simple yet rich mountain lifestyles and walking on this trail proves to be quite an intense experience.

Our 21 days Jiri to Everest base camp trek is a great adventure trek for the travelers who are physically fit, in good health, and are determined to challenge themselves with unpredictability of mountain life. However, if you have some trekking experience and wish to make the trek to Everest Base Camp in shortest possible time, we recommend you to try our Everest Base Camp Trek-14 days. We have designed another itinerary, Everest base camp trek-19 days for novice trekkers who are in good health with normal physical fitness.  Some among us might be in quest of a more challenging trek along with a desire to "get off the beaten path" and exploring Gokyo Lake and valley. Day to Day Itinerary

Trip Cost Includes

• All airport/hotel transfers
• Three nights 4-star hotel in Kathmandu ( Hotel Shanker or similar standard) with breakfast
• Welcome and farewell dinner
• Teahouse/Lodge accommodation during trek
• A full day sightseeing tour in Kathmandu valley including tour guide and entrance fees
• Kathmandu to Jiri transport in private vehicle
• Lukla-Kathmandu flight and airport departure tax
• An experienced English-speaking trek leader (trekking guide), assistant trek leader (4 trekkers: 1 assistant guide) and Sherpa porters to carry luggage (2 trekkers:1 porter) including their salary, insurance, equipment, flight, food and lodging
• Down jacket, four seasonal sleeping bag, Himalayan Glacier Trekking duffel bag, t-shirt, and trekking map (down jacket and sleeping bag are to be returned after trip completion)
• All necessary paper work and permits (National park permit, TIMS )

Trip Cost Does Not Include

• Nepal Visa fee (bring accurate USD cash and two passport photographs)
• International airfare to and from Kathmandu
• Excess baggage charges
• Lunch and evening meals in Kathmandu(and also in the case of early return from the mountain than the scheduled itinerary)
• Extra night accommodation in Kathmandu because of early arrival, late departure, and early return from the mountain(due to any reason) than the scheduled itinerary
• Travel and rescue insurance
• Personal expenses (phone calls, laundry, bar bills, battery recharge, extra porters, bottle or boiled water, shower etc)
• Tips for guides and porters

The Trekking Group

For the Jiri to Everest Base Camp trek, there will be one leader, assistant leader (4 trekkers:1 assistant guide) and Sherpa porters for luggage carrying (2 trekkers:1 porter) This arrangement ensures that should any body in the group is sick, the trip can still go ahead as planned. We can run the Jiri to Everest Base Camp trek for group of any size, but generally we include maximum of twelve people, as we've found this to be the optimum size for a successful trip. However, if you'd like to make a group booking for more than twelve people together, we can arrange this too.
