Acclimatization
We shold keep in mind that we are traveling overland to highest plateau in the world. The drive goes above 3,650m/11,975ft and we reach at 5,250m/17,220ft at Everest Base Camp. Driving fast in such an elevation could cause medical conditions (Acute Mountain Sickness). The higher the altitude the lesser is the oxygen in air. So, to balance the altitude sickness, we have to stay in Lhasa for nights.
Although Himalayan Glacier provides enough information regarding AMS precaution matters, if we get AMS, the company does not have other options to treat it other than driving down and medication. The company advises specially the guest(s) with known heart or lungs or blood diseases to consult doctor before traveling. Mild headaches, fever, loss of appetite or stomach disorder are symptoms of AMS.
Leader(s) & Staff Arrangements
All Himalayan Glacier's tour leaders speak English, know all the complexities and history of the areas they travel in. All Tibet trips are run in cooperation with Himalayan Glacier's Tibetan counterpart. So, we can be assured to have authentic local touch.
Best Season
April to October is the best time for this trip. The trip can be done well in November and December too. But, we need to prepare well for the cold weather during this time.
