Amazing expedition

Lobuche East and Island Peak Expedition

I tailored the itinerary to climb Island Peak and East Lobuche Peak as I had been to Everest Base camp in the past. HG provided valuable advice in finalising the itinerary and we decided to attempt Island peak first and then East Lobuche. Being customesed itinerary, it tuned out that I was the only client on the trip. In fact it turned out to be a good thing from logistics point of view later.

Trek upto Chukung has tea houses all the way and it was  nice walk. HG has fixed tents including kitchen and dining tent during the season at the base camps which helps a lot. The trekking guide upto Chukung and climbing guide from Chukung to Island summit were both great and well experienced. We were lucky to have a good day of the season on sumit day; -27c with a little wind. View from the summit was awesome. Technical climb is challeging at times but not too difficult.

Because of the cold weather at the East Lobuche high camp, decided to not attempt it. Gave my additional days in Namache and Kathmandu to chill out!

EBC

Everest Base Camp Trek

I recently returned from EBC and used Himalayan Glaciers. They were terrific! From meeting me at the airport to dropping me off at the airport upon my return from form EBC they took care of me. There guides and porters are the best. The pace on the trek was not too slow or too fast. I will without a doubt use Himalayan Glaciers on my next trip to Nepal. In my opinion, they provide the very BEST service.

Bhutan and Nepal in a Week

Nepal and Bhutan Tour

Our travel planner Vidya was soooo acommodating. We initially encountered some hiccups with the flight from Nepal to Bhutan as almost all flights were fully booked so she worked her magic and she was able to find us a flight and was able to jumble our itinerary to make it work.
Bhutan is such a lovely country. It definitely gave us a much needed break from city living. Our guide Mr. Thinley and the driver (sorry i forgot his name) made us feel so at home and they were very patient with us especially with the hike up to the Tiger’s Nest, which i thought I couldn’t do but surprisingly was able to climb with their gentle persuasion that it was only 5 minutes away.. NOT! :) It was definitely worth all the effort! The view was breathtaking! The whole country was surreal i must say!
Nepal on the other hand was majestic. Despite having most of the beautiful buildings heavily damaged or destroyed by the strong earthquake a few years back, you could still see how elaborate it once was. It is still a must see.
Overall, this trip was perfect!
Thank you Vidya for helping us plan this trip! It was definitely a birthday trip that i’d never forget!

Amazing!

Mera Peak Climbing

I had a wonderful experience climbing Mera Peak with HGT. Right from the beginning, the office staff answered all of my pre-trip questions thoroughly and were very welcoming and accomodating when I arrived. The trek itself was fantastic - the itinerary is planned with a long approach to aid in acclimatization, which is important when attempting a 6400m peak! My guide was great and always made sure I had everything I might possibly need, and pointed out interesting things to see along the way that were a bit off the direct path such as a monastery and a glacial lake which I might have missed otherwise. (And I'm pretty sure he even brought a bag of apples up the mountain so I could have fresh fruit during the trek, which was unexpected and so thoughtful.) Everything went really well throughout the trek and summit day was successful - was lucky enough to have perfect weather on the summit and an incredible view. Overall it was a very positive trip - a fun and challenging trek in a beautiful place, and the staff were friendly and experienced. I'm sure I will be back in Nepal for another trek some day and I'd absolutely go with HGT again.

Amazing Trekking Adventure!

Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo Lakes and Cho La Pass

My husband and I just returned from an incredible and gorgeous trekking adventure with Himalayan Glacier Trekking! Our guide, Ashish, and our porter, Bhak Ta were both fabulous - professional, knowledgable, caring, friendly, and tons of fun!  We had the best time!  Ashish always put our health and well-being first, which made our trip a huge success.
I highly recommend the 18 day Gokyo Lakes trip and Himalayan Glacier Trekking; and make sure to ask for Ashish and Bhak Ta. They are the best!

A fabulous trip to Gokyo Ri

Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri Trek

My daughter and I had a wonderful time on this hike! Kewal, our guide was terrific. He was knowledgeable, kind, and always helpful.  Birka, our porter, was also excellent. The scenery was lovely, and the places we stayed were very comfortable.

22 Days in Bhutan

Highlights of Bhutan

We had planned to spend ten days in Tibet and ten days in Bhutan but with a last minute closer of the Nepal Tibet border and the refusal of the Chinese to grant visas to Tibet we had to make a last minute Plan B. HGT worked with us to make new itinerary. We decided to spend 22 days in Bhutan and go deeper and further into the country. We did the five Druk trek which was wonderful. Our guide Nima, the horseman, the chef, and Dorji the staff helper were a great team and fun to be with. The food was exceptional, delicious soups every night, and a cake on our final night cooked in the pressure cooker. The remainder of our time we explored Haa Valley, Thimphu, Punkaha, Phobjikha Valley, Trongsa and Bumthang valley. Our two drivers Nidhu and Kencho we skillful and safe especially on the muddy, slippery road to Trongsa and on to Bumthang. It was well worth spending the extra days in Bhutan to experience the real Bhutan.

Gokyo lakes and Nepal beauty shines!

Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri Trek

This was my second trek with HGT and my husband's first and it was fantastic! The team of Narayan, Gadul and Laxman created Himalayan magic! We were welcomed to Nepal at the airport by my previous guide, Gadul , and were cared for every day until we returned to the airport by this most impressive guide. Narayan met with us before and after the trip to ensure all our questions and concerns were met. On the mountain, Gadul guided us daily to the most friendly and warm teahouses and made sure we had plenty of tea, good food, warm showers and fun card games. He helped us take our time with accllimatizing and kept us safe when the altitude and exertion accumulated. Our porter Laxman was always smiling and helpful and was amazing in his ability to move our gear up and down the mountain- he also plays a great card game! I highly recommend the Gokyo Lake trek for it's beauty, the opportunity for stunning views of Everest and it's neighbors , and for getting off the main EBC trail. We opted to cross RenjoLa pass instead of Cho-la and were rewarded with incredible views and a more rapid descent to lower altitudes which helped us immensely. Thank you HGT for a great Nepal Himalyan experience.

EBC with HGT!

Everest Base Camp Short Trek

Really beautiful trip - I highly recommend this! You meander through this long beautiful river valley with steep slopes that start out at 15-22,000 feet.Yet, soon enough you can see your destination off in the distance - the very highest mountains in the world. Its so marvelous to both be where you are but to also see where your journey is to take you. Also incredible are the 500 year old sweet, simple, wonderful buddhist Sherpa villages. And don't forget to stop into the Tengboche Monastary - what a treat. I'm going back!

EBC 16 Day-Fantastic!!

Everest Base Camp Trek

I recently completed a successful sixteen day trek to Everest Base Camp in October 2017. I would like to express my sincerest thanks to the Himalayan Glacier team for making my once in a lifetime trip not only a reality but a dream come true. From the front office staff in Kathmandu particularly Narayan, who made planning the trip seem almost effortless, to my experienced expedition guide/leader Saroj and my porter Ramesh (Hollywood). Without their expert knowledge of the mountains, their strength of character and their humor, I am certain that I would not have accomplished my goal. Thanks to them, we made a successful ascent to Everest Base Camp, and this trip will go down as one of the highlights of my life.

For those of you who might be a little bit older (I am 59) or who might not have trekked at high altitude before, rest assured that the people at Himalayan Glacier are going to take good care of you and make your trek a success from start to finish. Other than doing some backpacking trips in the Sierras, I had not previously done any extensive hiking vacations and none at high altitude. While I trained for over four months and felt that I was in pretty good physical condition from my regular gym workouts and local day hikes, it was my experienced guide Saroj that got me up to Everest Base Camp and back down again safely. His ability to assess my physical conditioning, personality and keep me in check and focused mentally is what I feel ultimately lead to my successful trip. Both he and my Porter Ramesh were personable, friendly, engaging and always supportive. Even though the trekking was hard work, I had a blast the entire sixteen days!

Nepal is a wonderful and welcoming country. You will find that you meet many people both locals and fellow trekkers and guides from other groups at the various tea houses where you stay while on your trek. I certainly enjoyed the camaraderie of other trekkers and kindred spirits who traveled from every corner of the globe to make this once in a lifetime journey. However, the most fun that I had was spending my social time at dinner and tea with my guide and porter. My guide Soraj is an accomplished English speaker and is very personable and entertaining. My porter Ramesh was always ready with a friendly smile and laugh. Although a bit shy, I am sure he is an expert guide in the making. We had a lot of fun along the way even during those times when they were fully aware that I was under a lot of physical stress, as this is a serious and strenuous trek. Importantly, I always felt that Saroj had my best interests at heart, and that my personal safety was his primary concern. At the end of my trip, we encountered poor weather and he expeditiously arranged a helicopter to fly me back to Kathmandu saving me hours of time that would have been wasted otherwise.

I traveled solo only because other trekkers had not booked my scheduled departure date. To their credit, Himalayan Glacier did not try to force me into another group and allowed me to travel solo which I absolutely loved. They allowed me to tailor my trip to fit my preferences. As it was, there were other Himalayan Glacier trekkers on the trail and we often met up at tea houses and at various points along the way. We in our small groups were looked upon with envy by some of the massive hordes we saw along the trail. Being in a large trekking group is definitely NOT the way you want to trek to Everest Base Camp!!! I was really glad that I chose to be with an operator like Himalayan Glacier that keeps its trekking groups small to ensure an intimate experience for trekkers.

Being an avid photographer I felt free to stop as many times and for as long as I wished to take photographs. Once my guide Saroj realized my passion for photography he often suggested better photo locations. I am sure that he is one of the top guides at HGT so you will be lucky if you are able to experience a trek with him.

I have no doubt that your journey to the Himalayas with HGT will be the trip of a lifetime. My trip to Everest Base Camp with HGT exceeded my expectations in every way, and I was so inspired by the experience that I plan to travel to the Himalayas again when time permits, and I cannot imagine booking my return trip with anyone other than HGT.

I can be contacted should you have any other specific questions
