Himalayan Glacier- Excellant experience

Lhasa to Everest Base Camp Tour

I was joined by two close friends who researched and found Himalayan Glacier for our trip to Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan. Thank goodness they found them. The company, thru Vidya Shakya, organized everything for us and emailed us with any updates, suggestions and answers to any of our questions almost immediately. They were incredibly responsive and accommodating. If we wished to modify any portion of the trip they provided appropriate feedback and suggestions. They were flexible and accommodating and their prices were more than fair. They even treated us to two dinners in Nepal even though not expected. Mr. Naba was of great assistance and they have one of the best guides and friends in Mr. Nabin who not only showed us around but took time out of his own day to share with us additional experiences in Kathmandu at no cost when he really had no obligation to do so.

We were totally satisfied with their services and viewed them more as friends than tour guides. All of their plans and hard work resultedin us having a most rewarding experience and one i would recommend to anyone interested.

As a suggestion, if you are going to visit all three countries i would spend a bit more time in Tibet and Bhutan than Nepal which might makes sense due to traffic, road construction and pollution in Kathmandu and the surrounding areas which make travel a little more challenging than one might wish.

But Vidya, Mr. Naba and Mr. Nabin and their guides in Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan were exceptional.

All of their hard work resulted in a wonderful experience for all of us. Great company, but more importantly, great people.

Unforgettable

Mera Peak Climbing

I had the good fortune to be on Mera summit on my 58th birthday this year.  Thanks to Naba, Tenzing, Purba and Deu for all their work getting me there, and to the great multinational crew of fellow enthusiasts who shared the experience.  This was not my first time in Nepal but it turned into one of the most satisfying visits I have had to this wornderful country.
Accomdations in Kathmandu were very comfortable but the Hotel Ratri felt a bit generic and lacked the charm of some other hotels in Thamel. Great food though.  On the trek to Mera, we stayed in a wide range of tea houses and lodges from the quite luxurious (for the Khumbu) to the really spartan.  It is all part of the fun so be prepared.  The food was fine though as is always the case, it did get a bit monotonous eating from essentially the same menuu for three weeks.
The two days of glacier travel out of Khare camp (lodge) to the summit and back were both a blur and unforgettable at the same time.  I had probably the worst night's sleep ever at High Camp.... but I wasn't there to sleep. And so at 2am, we stepped onto the glacier under a full moon and started up to the summit, arriving at about 9am. It wasn't really technical but parts of it were a bit of a slog (the blur)..... but what a view from the summit (the unforgettable)!
So,  overall.  If you want a taste of a less touristy area of the Everest region and one of the best mountain views on the planet, this is the trek for you.  I wish you the good fortune that I had to make some great friendships and have an outstanding climb.

Bucket List--Everest Base Camp

Everest Base Camp Luxury Lodge Trek

My husband and I organzied a family trip to Everest Base Camp, something that had been on our bucket list. We had originally planned the trip two years ago but the tragic earthquake in Nepal caused us to change our plans. Himalayan Glacier was willing to hold our deposit and allow us to reschedule our trip this past May 2017.
We had seven in our group, ranging from 20 to 58 years old. Our guides were able to hike with the fastest of us, and were patient enough to trek with the slowest of us!  Our group arrived from all over the world and each of us was met by  at the airport in Kathmandu. Late and cancelled flights caused some schedules to change and Himalayan Glacier was flexible and rearranged some things as necessary. Logistically, everything went very smoothly.
On our first day we were given a great tour of Kathmandu, a briefing to pick up our gear, and a kick-off dinner. The next day we had a very early wake-up for our flight to Lukla. Fortunately, the company knew to make reservations on the first flights out in the morning because bad weather so often cancelled flghts. Our flight was the second to last to land in Lukla before the flights were cancelled for the rest of the day. Although we didn't love our early wake up call, we were happy that we had made it to Lukla and were on our way!

We chose the Luxury Lodge trip and the Yeti Mountain Homes that we stayed in were nice. As we got higher and began to stay in tea houses, there were a couple of times that we changed from the ones that had originally been booked by Himalayan Glacier to ones that were newer and nicer. Our guide was always able and willing to make these changes for us and overall, I feel like we stayed in the best available places, although sometimes it seemed that we figured out which ones these were.
The itinerary of our trek was very reasonable and insured that we would all acclimate well and would have a successful trip to EBC. In both Namche and Dingboche we spent two nights but took day hikes on our off-day to make sure that we were acclimating. Our guides were knowledgeable of the risks associated with hiking too quickly and made sure we followed best practices. As a result we all made it safely and without any issues. When someone did have the occasional headache, the guide had the right medication in case we had forgotten it.
Although communication was a little difficult at times due to the language differences, we always managed to fiugre things out eventually. Our guides and our porters were very open and willing to help accomodate us in any way they could. For example, although we had great weather most days, our porters were always fairly close in case we needed to retireve clothes for rain or cold during the day. The porters were always friendly and smiling and helpful. We had a great team!
Thank you to our Himalayan Glacier Team for a wonderful trip to Everest Base Camp!

EBC and a Chopper Ride

Everest Base Camp Trek

Himalayan Glacier did an excellent job of taking care of us on our trek from start to finish. Our guide, Giri, always made sure we were going at the proper pace, had enough to eat, and always had our best interests in mind. From start to finish, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I highly recommend Himalayan Glacier and would use them again in a heart-beat.

ABC trek alltime best

Everest Advanced Base Camp Trek from Tibet

Thanks to the great efforts of Lakpa Dorje Sherpa and his team of sherpas our entire group of 6 trekkers made it safely up to and down from Advanced Base Camp on the Tibet side a couple of weeks ago. The positive attitude and determination he helped especially me to muster was a key ingredient in making it possible to reach these high altitudes (almost 6500 meters at ABC). Two nights at Changtse Base Camp (6000 meters) was also a big challenge with the minus 15 degrees Celsius. The borrowed sleeping bags from HG served us very well however.
The itinerary was very well composed to help us acclimatise properly with the first days spent in Lhasa at 3600 meters and then a steady climb while driving to Shigatse and eventually from the trekking start at Lotingri (4300 meters). Maximum daily increase in altitude was 200-300 meters, except from the final leg up to ABC (approximately 400 meters).
For me this was the adventure of a lifetime and I had prepared with daily strength and running routines which I think also was key for me at 62 to being successful. I had not much experience at high altitude however and that caused some problems in the early stages with loss of fluid and sleep. Overcoming that quite soon I felt very strong the rest of the way and did not even need to take the Diamox tablets.
I would like to thank the HG team in Nepal for their support during preparations (Vidya is a star), transports to and from the airport, and for the duffel bag, t-shirt and the possibility to borrow sleeping bags.
And once again I would like to thank the best guide ever and our hero Lakpa Dorje Sherpa for making this trip unforgettable, and I will always be very grateful for his teams support.

Wonderful Experience

Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo Lakes and Cho La Pass

Himalayan Glacier was great, starting with the excellent, warm and helpful e-mails from Vidya, who responded to my endless questions with grace and patience, to the friendly and non-complaining help of the porters--especially Bir, who mainly carried my duffel bag--who had to deal with my extra heavy packing, to the truly remarkable support, patience, and skill of Sudar, the guide, who literally dragged me over the Chola pass and waited for hours for me as I trudged slowly behind the rest of the group. Sudar was heroic in getting my unprepared body through this difficult but fantastic trek and always being upbeat about it. The company as a whole is supportive and the accomodations were very good along the way (there are better and worse teahouses, and they chose better). I had a wonderful experience and I would recommend this company to anyone planning a HImalayan trek. And at the risk of saddling Sudar, Bir, and others with other slow trekkers, I would just say that at 61, inadequately trained, and inherently slow, I felt I had found the right people to support me and enable me to have an amazing experience. So those of you like me: do it! And for everyone, you can trust this company to provide an excellent trek.

Trip of a lifetime

Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo Lakes and Cho La Pass

Thank you Himalayan Glacier Trekking (HGT) for making this trip the "trip of a lifetime". Everything HGT said they would was done to perfection. Their staff was nothing short of amazing. Our guide and porters were the "best". I watched guides from other companies and none worked harder and were more fun to be around the ours.
The accommodations and meals in the tea houses were way beyond our expectations. Our meals and hotels in Kathmandu provided by HGT were fabulous. The trek to EBC and Gokyo lanes was all I could have ever hoped for and more.
Everything about our trip exceeded my expectations.I loved Nepal and the friendly people. I am definitely going back and I am definitely going with HGT. THEY ARE THE BEST.

Feedback from a regular client

Everest High Passes Trek

I am an old client of HGT. I first came across them in 2011 via excellent reviews on Tripadvisor. Back then I completed EBC and Kala Pathar with HGT guide and porter. Had a wonderful experience.
So once again, in April and May 2017, I did two trips with Himalayan Glacier team. First one was 3 passes plus Island Peak and second was a pilgrimage tour for my Mom to Muktinath (near Jomsom).
Mr. Narayan, the General Manager at HGT is a very responsible and caring man. Always, ready to help and respond at short notice. He has been the key reason for me to return to HGT. During this trip, I also had a very good guide named Govind Bisnet. He took fantastic care starting first thing in the morning till I would go to bed. When we had to extend our day trip from Thaknak to Dzongla to Thaknak to Dingboche, I.e. Cover 2 day distance in 1 day, Govind and the porter accepted the change without blinking an eye lid. This allowed me to get to Island Peak base camp as per revised itinerary.
With HGT, I've always got the feeling that plans are not cast in stone and client care comes above business priorities. I would always highly recommend them and take their services next time I am in Nepal.

Our Sherpa is a legend

Everest Advanced Base Camp Trek from Tibet

If you plan to do any trekking or climbing adventures with HGT please ask for the Sherpa named Lhapka Gorgee! He was the best guide and he really took care of us! He has summitted Everest 7 times and was actually a rescuer during the IMAX disaster.  I consider him a legend and not only that but he understands hospitality and knows how to treat his customers. We did the Advanced Everest Base Camp trek in Tibet.  It was one of the things in life I will look back on as a huge accomplishment.  Not everyone will have the opportunity to trek up to 6500 meters on the highest trek in the entire world on one of the most famous mountains in the entire world.  I am glad I chose HGT for this journey.  Besides, Lhapka being a great team leader,  his team cooked some of the best meals I have ever had in a tent!  If you have any questions about why you should choose HGT for an advanced everest base camp trek from tibet feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. The staff at HGT take your seriously and want to ensure you have a good and safe time.
