Visit to Chitwan National Park, a World Heritage Site

Chitwan is an inner Terai valley nestled between the Mahabharat and Siwalik Ranges and is famous for housing Chitwan National Park (CNP) which was declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984. The park is rich in varieties of flora and fauna and also holds an important place in preserving the wild lives that are rapidly getting extinct from this planet. It is therefore, a safe haven to endangered animals such as the one horn rhinoceros and the last remaining Bengal tigers.

Jungle safari on an elephant’s back is by far the foremost popular attraction in Chitwan for locals and tourists alike. On a typical safari you are almost sure to spot rhinoceros, water buffalo, egrets, woodpecker, and deer in their natural habitat. The Park is also home to leopards, sloth bears, wild bison, gangetic dolphin, 500 birds, butterflies, as well as the near extinct Gharial crocodiles. Apart from the Jungle Safari you can also take a nature walk, a canoe trip or go bird watching. While in Chitwan, you may even take a bath with the elephants. It’ll often do some showing off and entertain you to the fullest.
