Trek to Damodar Kunda for Pilgrimage

Damodar Kunda
Damodar Kunda

The Damodar Kunda (lake), situated at an altitude of 4890 meter in the northern of Annapurna range is famous for Hindu and Buddhist religious pilgrims. The lake site is cold and windy place. Hence, the Mustang trekking route which is very close to Nepal’s border with Tibet to Damodar Kuda is also challenging.

The challenging route to the lake offers astounding views of Mt. Dhaulagiri 1- (8163m), Mt. Sita Chuchura (6611m), Mt. Nilgiri (6940m), Mt. Thapa Peak (6015m), Mt. Tukche Peak (6920m), Mt. Tilicho peak (7134m), Mt. Thorong Peak (6484m), Mt. Yakawa Kan (6482m), Mt. Brikuti (6364m), and Mt. Chuungian Chanma Himal (6165m). The destination to the lake further enthralls with snow capped mountains peaks like Mt. Mustang Himal (66234m), and Mt. Arniko Chuli (6034m). At the lake’s north intrepid trekkers find Damodar Himal and encounter clearly visible massif of Mt. Annapurna to the south.

Above all offering the arresting scenery of great Himalayas, the trek traverses through Thakali and Tibetan communities of highlands.
