The Tamang Heritage Trail, located about 30 kilometers towards the north of Kathmandu offers the magnificent views of Himalayan life style and culture. While offering the beauty of the mountain region and the culture of the people who live there, the trail traverses through traditional Tamang villages where life, culture, and crafts have remained unaffected for centuries. The trail is full of rich architecture of ethnic mountain houses, the ancient monasteries and places of prayer. Along with untouched cultural experiences on the trek, the trail further visits through beautiful landscapes of alpine terrain, flat meadows and rhododendron forests.
The enjoying trek can be undertaken either from Dhunche or Syabrubesi and at the end, visitors have to pass through Goljung, Gatlang, Thuman, Timure, Briddim, Lama Hotel, Langtang valley and Kyangjin Gompa. Goljung, Gatlang and Langtang, the traditional Tamang villages comprise the cultural features of the trek. Further, the visit to beautiful local Tamang monastery and the holy Parvatikunda Lake at Gatlang excites the lovely pleasure of the trek.
While relishing over the unique Tamang culture and unprecedented level of ethnic hospitality, visitors fail to resist the irresistible dramatic views of Langtang Lirung (7245m.), Langtang Kerung, Chimse Danda ridge crossed by Ganjala Pass (5122m.), Dorje Lakpa (6989m.), Jugal Himal, Ganesh Himal, Paldor peak, Shringi Himal, Manaslu and Sanjen Himal ranges at its distance.
Though the trail is at close distance of Kathmandu Valley, the unique experience of treading over the trail cannot be undermined. At the one side, the trail offers untouched cultural experiences and on other side it is full of pristine views of snow capped mountain.
