Six new trekking routes in Myagdi

Of the six new trekking routes being constructed in Myagdi with a view to promoting local tourism, two are expected to be completed within the current fiscal year.

The new trekking routes which cover different parts of the district take trekkers to high-hills to enjoy panoramic views of religious sites, mountains and other beautiful sites in the district.

According to Local Development Officer Bishnu Prasad Sharma, the government has allocated tourism royalty in lump sum (Rs. 5.9 million) which was halted for the last three years and some portion of this will be spend in the construction of trekking routes.

The new trekking routes which include over one dozen rural settlements in the district will go through Kuinemangale to Rikhar, Beni to Malikdhuri, Jyamarkut to Jhankripani, Bim Baran to the Dhaulagiri base camp, Galeshwor to Dhaulagiri Icefall and Bhu Tatopani to the Annapurna base camp.

Of these routes, construction of last two is expected to complete within the current fiscal year. Construction of Galeshwor-Dhaulagiri Icefall route has reached the final phase, the District Development Committee, Myagdi said.
