Pilgrims to Swargadawari in a lurch

PYUTHAN: With transportation obstructed due to heavy rain and landslides, many pilgrims have been stranded on the way to Swargadawari of Pyuthan.A 13-km road from Bhingre to Swargadawari was blocked due to landslides, stranding 100 pilgrims.Transportation workers said they couldn’t ply their vehicles as the under construction road was slippery and that the stranded people were suffering.

Travellers suffer each year during the monsoon season due to incomplete construction works.

Ashram Chief Hari Bhandari said transport service was obstructed for the past two days as a two-km road. “Earlier, around 500 pilgrims used to visit the temple on a daily basis,” he said.

Ashram Management Committee sources said the committee had to bear a loss of Rs 1 lakh everyday. “Construction work and vehicular movement will not start until the weather changes,” said Account Chief Basudev Bhattarai of the Ashram.
