During this photography tour, travel through this ancient kingdom soaking in the beauty of the remarkable landscape. Visit beautifully located monasteries, villages, palaces, people from all walks of life and photograph their way of life and culture.

Ladakh has a rich cultural and religious heritage as can be seen from its old gompas. Geographically, the Indus Valley is the back-bone of Ladakh. All the main places associated with Ladakh’s dynastic history, Shey, Leh, Basgo and Tingmosgang together with all the important gompas outside Zanskar are situated along the stretch of the Indus.

Ladakh offers photographers some rare sights like the Nubra Valley of flowers, the high altitude lake of Pangong with its vibrantly colored water contrasting beautifully with the surrounding stark landscape or Tsomoriri in Rupshu lying on the Tibetan plateau with spectacular views of the snow capped mountains reflecting themselves in the ever changing light.

How our tour begins

Fly from Delhi to Leh. At Leh make a gentle visit to Shanti Stupa which overlooks the Indus valley from where you have fantastic sunset view. Set off for Alchi. En route, you see the 15th century Basgo Fort which dominates the village of Basgo. Take a photograph of this site.

Find yourself at Likir monastery and take a superb view overlooking the wheat colored millet fields of Likir village.

Travel to Lamayuru monastery which is standing spectacularly in a unique moonlike landscape with a medieval village seemingly grows out of the rocky hillside below. The ascent to Lamayuru Gompa is simply stunning.

Along the way to Srinagar marvel to Basgo Fort, the best known for its castle ruin and the adjoining royal temples-spectacularly located high on the rocks.

Spend a whole day at Pangong Lake for both sunrise and sunset superb views.

After sunrise view at Pangong, drive to the Nubra Valley crossing the high mountain pass and amazing landscape. The Nubra valley is often known as the valley of flower.

Ascend through the Khardungla 5596m, one of the the highest road pass in the world. Then descend with amazing vistas to the comforts of Tsomoriri Lake. Catch the haunting Buddhist chants and prayers at Thiksey Monastery. Drive on to Tsomoriri stopping en route to capture the incredible scenery.
