Chobhar developing as tourism site

The Chobhar area of Kirtipur Municipility-14 to the south of Kathmandu has been developing into an important site for trekking and sightseeing these days.

Hundreds of domestic and foreign tourists visit the site daily for trekking and sightseeing. Mainly, the locals from Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur come to visit the site at the weekend, said Dipesh Maharjan, a local.

The number of tourists has increased these days after the local Jalabinayak Community Forestry Users´ Committee started to develop the infrastructure, picnic spot and cleared the way to Manjushree Cave (the second longest cave in Asia), said the locals.

According to the locals, most of the tourists prefer to trek and go around from Jalabinayak Temple to Aadi Nath Temple. The site is important for educational tour and particularly for the students of history, as the place is directly related to the civilization of the Kathmandu valley.
