Nepalese mountaineer Chhurim Sherpa has entered the Guinness World Records book by climbing Mt. Everest second time in the same season.
According to Guinness World Records, she is the first woman to climb the world’s highest mountain twice in the same season. Chhurim from Solukhumbu had kissed the 8,848-meter summit on May 12, 2012 and again on May 19, 2012.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation handed over the Guinness World Records certificate to the 29-year-old mountaineer in the midst of a program held in Kathmandu on February 25.
More than 4,000 mountaineers have reached the summit of Mt Everest since the first success in 1953. But only a few of them are women.
