7 Nepali women to climb Aconcagua peak

KATHMANDU: A group of seven Nepali women, on a mission to scale the tallest peaks of all seven continents, has decided to climb the Aconcagua peak of Argentina, South America in February next year.

The group has already scaled the highest peaks of Asia, Europe, Australia and Africa.

The last successful ascent of the seven women´s team was on the Kilimanjaro peak of Tanzania of Africa on March 4.

Organizing a press meet in the capital to inform about the Kilimanjaro summit, team leader Shailee Basnet said the mountain measuring 5895 meters was scaled successfully along with four African women in March.

The team was support by Nepal Tourism Board, Nepal Mountaineering Association, TAAN, World Food Programme of Tanzania, Panchakanya Group, Non-Resident Nepalis´ Association, North Face and others.

After climbing the African mountain, the women visited seven schools Tanzania and South Africa and spread the message of women empowerment and education.

On the occasion, Officiating Executive Director at Nepal Tourism Board, Subash Niraula, said the seven women´s group helped identify Nepal in Africa.
