International Tourism Summit to be held in Nepal

Nepal has been chosen as the next venue for the International Tourism Summit of the United Federation of Travel Agents (UFTA). The Summit is scheduled to take place in November 2009. Nepal beat Bulgaria and Belgium for this coveted opportunity.

The decision has been taken considering the popularity of Nepal as a unique and one of the best tourist destinations in the world. Hundreds of travel agencies of 79 different countries are member of UFTA, which operates as the umbrella organization of international travel agents.

The summit will be participated by over 200 international travel agents and will be held in coordination with Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA). Nepal is all prepared to host the summit with elaborate programs and festivals.

World Tourism Day observed

Nepal has observed the world tourism day with plantation and by welcoming the tourists at airports and border points. This year the theme of World Tourism Day has been to wedge a campaign on the development of environmentally sound travel business.

Nepal has set up ‘Climate Neutral Fund’ in order to tackle the challenges of climate change with the help of tourism. Global warming has today become the hottest topic in the world with such problems as air, land and water pollution and rapid melting of glaciers, flooding and drought.

Nepal Tourism Board has brought a special program to invite tourists visiting Nepal to take part in plantation program in coordination with local communities. It has been felt necessary by concerned tourism stakeholders to raise awareness about environmental conservation among tourists.

Record Sky Diving from Mt. Everest 2008

A historic feat was achieved in adventure tourism this year in Nepal when international sky divers took one of the highest dives on earth from above Mount Everest (8,848m). A total of 32 sky jumpers from 14 different countries took part in what has been termed as ‘record breaking sky diving event’ in the world.

Rock Climbing before our Mera Peak Expeditions

We went to rock climbing in Nagarjun (near by Kathmandu) for rock climbing on 2nd of September. There was 9 people in group lead by our climbing guide Mr. Tengi Sherpa. We will be flying to Lukla on 4th of September for our Mera Peak Expedition.
