Everest Base Camp Trek
May 4, 2012
We had a wonderful time in Nepal on the Everest Base Camp trek with Himalayan Glacier Trekking. I have done many treks in the past but it was my husband’s first time and both of us were very impressed with the service and attention that we received from HGT. We set up the trek from Australia through the HGT office and were happy to find the company willing to make any requested adjustments to itineraries while being flexible with departure dates and also offering advice and counsel in their areas of expertise. The trek itself was exceptional – the views are something that we will always have in our memories.

On the way to Everest Base Camp
Raj, our guide, was professional, very informative and constantly looking out for our well-being. Of all the treks I have done, I would say that Raj is the best guide I have had! The organisation along the way was easy as Jaya, our porter, would have our room ready on arrival, and Raj would assist with our food orders and any other things to simplify everything for us. Along the trek, we stayed in good trekking lodges and were spoiled by a few extra luxuries in some locations not offered by other companies charging the same price for treks eg. heated blankets and hot showers in Namche Bazaar or ensuite toilets in Dingboche. Overall I would highly recommend trekking EBC with HGT to all levels and ages of trekkers. Thanks again to the team for making our time in Nepal magical.

Adam with trek Guide Raj and porter Jaya
As a suggestion, we weren’t very impressed with the professionalism of the guide used for the city tour in Kathmandu. His explanations were very brief as he was often in conversation with the driver or on his mobile phone.

Everest Base Camp
Thanks again for a wonderful holiday filled with so many magical memories.

Everest Base Camp via Gokyo lakes – started 18 Dec 2011
February 5, 2012
First of all we want to thank you and to appreciate your efforts made in order to fulfill the guest’s expectations. After analyzing the day-to-day program of the trek, and after reading the reviews on “Trip advisor” before we booked the trip, the expectations were very high, and we were not surprised to meet those expectations. And even more.
Thank you very much for offering to us your car and driver/guide Hasi, which allowed us to visit great locations around Kathmandu.
A great appreciation for all the crew – Dol, Pradip, Bhairas, Bal and helpers whose names we would also like to mention: Pasang (camera man), Dulba, Lal Bahadur, Nima, Subash, Fulman.
When we came back from the trip we had a very useful discussion and we are happy to see that you considered our suggestions useful, and included them in the itinerary. We also noted the correction of scared/sacred reference to Mt. Kumbila.
We have the pleasure to attach a brief pps file with some photographs we took during our visit in Nepal. In order to reduce the dimension of the file, I had to reduce the quality of the pictures, but I think it would give an idea about how we saw Nepal and how we felt during the trip.
We shall not say that it was the trip of the lifetime (as we saw very many people say), since we intend to repeat our wonderful experience in Nepal.
Once again Thank you, and keep you business at the same standards !!
Hope to see you again,
Ion and Alex Onitiu

Tibet Tour
January 3, 2012
In regards to our Tibet trip, just wanted to let you know we had a great time and are very grateful to you for assisting us in organizing such memorable trip.
Some key points in order:
The driver who took us to the border was nice and chatty and took good care of us on our final journey in Nepal. The young chap who assisted is with the border crossing was very nice and made this process very easy.
Our Tibetan guide and driver were great. They were very helpful and most accommodating with changes in the itinerary we made on route. They struck a good balance between looking after us but also giving us space to do as we wanted (that was one of my initial worries with a trip like this, as I’m quite independent and not used to being guided).
The Land Cruiser was showing its age a bit and the heater was no the most reliable. Having said that it was comfortable and reliable. A couple of warm blankets in the boot might be an idea for those of us allergic to the cold.
Accommodation at most places was of a standard above that which I had expected. The hotel in Lhasa was fantastic, very comfortable beds, good underfloor heating and friendly staff. The hotel in Shingatse was also very nice. The hotel in Old Tingri was a bit worse for wear (even the Lonely planet guide suggests looking elsewhere), so this may be an opportunity for improvement in future.
We were very happy with the itinerary in terms of the sights that we visited, and feel we saw everything we wanted to. The guide seemed very knowledgable and was able to answer all our questions relating to the sights we visited as well as any other things we wanted to know.
Breakfast – I think the Tibetans feel that all westerners must have eggs and bread in the mornings – I’m sure its them just trying to be hospitable, but we would have been much happier with what the locals ate (the tibetan bread has the consistency and atomic number of lead). Food everywhere else was good and our guides picked out some good lunch spots for us, we especially liked the lunch stop in our drivers home town.
We did have the small misunderstanding at the final set of hot springs as it wasn’t clear that we had to pay extra to use them. We were however grateful for your understanding and willingness to rectify the situation on the spot, this from our perspective was very good customer service.
Overall we were very happy with the service you provided us both in organizing and executing our trip. I believe a sign of good service is a clients willingness to recommend that service to others. I would have no hesitation in recommending Himalayan Glacier Trekking to others.
Thanks once again for your help with our trip, it was truly a once in a lifetime experience.
Warm Regards
Stephen
Everest Base Camp via Gokyo Ri
December 21, 2011
Our trek to Eversest base camp via Gokyo Ri and Cho La Pass was the most amazing experience of my life. We were very lucky with the weather. The rain and snow that we experienced as we left Namche Bazar on our way up to Mong La was very challenging and I’m very grateful that we had no more weather like that, especially as we got higher into the mountains. After that the days were crystal clear and I could not have even imagined how beautiful and awe inspiring the landscape was going to be. As we left the main trekking route and headed up the Gokyo Valley the crowds thinned and the scenery got more and more awesome. What an unbelievably beautiful place. We overnighted in Macherma which is set in a superb glacial valley and continued up the valley to Gokyo the next day. It literally just kept getting better and better. You know when you’re holidaying and strive to get to that one amazing lookout and when you get there you think that it was all worthwhile? Well try to imagine that you reached that rewarding lookout and there was another one just up the track and they just kept coming. That was what it was like in the Gokyo Valley. The first lake was beautiful but the third lake with Gokyo village on its banks and surrounded by immense mountains was superb. We were so lucky here I think. We arrived at about midday, unloaded our gear into rooms and headed up Gokyo Ri in absolutely perfect weather. We got to the top at about 3:00pm and let me tell you the scene is overpowering. Everest is clearly visible as are Lohtse, Nuhptse, Makalu, Choy Oya and several other mammoth mountains, Ngazumba Glacier and Gokyo Lake. (please forgive my spelling). Imagine being surrounded by 7-8,000 metre peaks with glaciers and turquoise blue glacial lakes at their bases, blue, blue crystal clear skies and the occasional puffy white cloud occasionally gathering around a mountain top just for dramatic effect. This was definitely my highlight of the trek and should not be missed. The views are absolutely awesome. Unbelievable!

Everest Base Camp via Gokyo Ri
The next day we crossed the glacier and trekked down to a very small village Dragnac where we overnighted before setting off in the dark to head over Cho La Pass. A very cold and challenging section and negotiating the icy boulders near the top you understand why this should only be tackled in benign weather conditions. Incredible dawn views and when you get to the top there are truly spectacular views down an immense valley to Ama Dablam in the distance. Although quite a few people do this pass I could not help feeling very priveledged to have seen this part of the mountains. There are no Yak trains or hoards here and it really feels remote and you get a sense of being a long way from civilization. This is where you need a good guide too. You will not stop taking pictures as you trek down this valley as the views just keep changing. It’s all very uplifting. The trek up to Everest Base camp the next day was senstational also.Trekking up the edge of an immense glacier you get a sense of the massive scale of these mountains. The ice fall and at the base of Nuptse and the views up the climbing route to Everest are inspiring. Our trek guide, Mindu knew the guys at base camp and arranged hot tea at the mess tent – what a guy! It briefly snowed on us here as storm clouds brewed and then the weather just cleared off down the valley. How lucky can you get?! We saw 4 avalanches happening on the slopes of Lhotse and Nuptse and I got some great photos of them. Once again, more impressive than you could dream of.
The next day we shuffled up Kala Pattar before dawn to watch the sun rise over Everest. Great views but possibly the coldest place that I have ever been to! As we headed down from this high altitude country we had a real sense of achieving something quite amazing. This is one part of the world not to be missed. And there was more. We stayed overnight at Dingboche at the base of Ama Dablam on the Dudhe Koshi river. A very, very beautiful place with views up the valley to Island Peak and down the valley to Themsarku. It was arrest day but I couldn’t resist heading up an adjacent peak to get some sensational views of Ama Dablam and down the valley. Very, very worth the effort if you get the chance.
The 5 other people in our group were all great fun and we bonded really well – rather important if you are going to spend 2 weeks plus in close company with others. that Himalayan Glacier did a superb job of organising everything from pickups at the airport and accommodation right down to tea breaks at sensational settings. Our trek guide Mindu Sherpa was more than awesome and he and the two assistant guides Bosan Sherpa and Dawa Sherpa looked after us like kings. They took all of the stress out of the trip and I cannot say enough about these guys. They were truly our friends and did the best for us everywhere. They arranged accommodation and meals and helped us stay healthy and strong. The porters were also unbelievably solid, reliable and good natured.
Thank you Himalayan Glacier for organizing such a great trip that I will remember for the rest of my life. Believe me I am a critical bastard and I have no desire to say anything critical of the trek whatsoever. I will use your company again whwn I return to try another part of the Himalayas. It was an amazing experience. It is strenuous and it will challenge anyone’s strength and stamina. Some members of our group suffered altitude difficulties and had coughs and colds and it is not easy but it is definitely worth it. Get fit before you come!
Cheers
Anthony
Manaslu to Tillicho Trek
December 16, 2011
Everything about the trip was excellent. Our leader, Bir Bahadur Magar, was very good – very conscientious and hardworking and very well organised. The crew was very good. The food was excellent and we really appreciated the effort Bir and the head cook went to to ensure we had fresh local vegetables all the time.
The only suggestion I would make is that the trip needs a couple of extra days. A rest day/optional excursion day on the day after coming down from Larkya La to give people’s knees a chance to recover from the huge descent before yet another long day of descending to Dharapani and at least one extra day in Manang as a buffer against bad weather. If that day isn’t needed, it can always be used in Jomsom (side trip to Kagbeni perhaps) or in Pokhara.
Best wishes for now,
Lesley and Carmel
Annapurna Sanctuary Trek
December 15, 2011
The Annapurna Sanctuary trek was fantastic and I’m very satisfied with the services provided my Himalayan Glacier Trekking. The whole team was great! Sudarshan was a great guide and he was very professional. Vishnu as well as Dhon and Prakash our porters were always helpful and went out of their way to make sure that our experience on the trek was nothing less than amazing. They were attentive to even the smallest details to ensure that we had a great trek.
I would like to thank the whole team at Himalayan for their excellent customer service. From beginning to end, it was a trip that I will remember for a long time. I would recommend Himalayan to anyone who wishes to go to Nepal. Himalayan took care of all the details of the trek, as well as the pre and post-trip arrangements in Kathmandu and Pokhara and this made my experience worry-free and wonderful.
